Backyard Wedding on a Rainy Day in October
The details of Seth and Josie's wedding were more ornate than anything you could ever find on Pinterest, only nothing about their wedding was cliche "Pinterest," in that, everything they added to their day was purposeful and meaningful to them and to their families.
The wedding party spent the morning in historic downtown Fredrick where they got ready at a cozy, Victorian-style bed and breakfast. This is also where Josie and Seth had their first-look--on the home's garden-surrounded, wrap around porch.
After the first look, we drove to Josie's childhood home, where her father joyfully prepared the ceremony location on his property, including hand-making the log arch and benches.
While Scottish folk tunes were played live, together their family members descended the homestead hill and made their way into the woodland for the most beautiful ceremony we've ever attended.
The rainy day didn't dampen anyone's mood. In fact, Josie said that she was excited about it. So in our opinion, the moody weather just added serene drama to the Scottish-inspired, Princess Bride theme.
With only four tables of guests, the reception was emotional and personal. Each setting was beautifully set, and each guest was served a hot meal of Maryland rock fish, red potatoes, asparagus and soft dinner rolls with any drink you could ever want.
After dinner, Josie and Seth invited everyone around the house for a small campfire and s'mores bar, where they were also serving hot coffee and apple cider. They ended the evening with sparklers, but not until after a showing of their favorite movie, "The Princess Bride," in their handcrafted outdoor theater.
The beauty of this intimate ceremony was more than we could image. Thank you, Seth and Joselle, for allowing Josh and me to tell your wedding day story.
