The French House: A Venue Like No Other
The French House is a hidden gem within Cincinnati’s French Park, offering couples the ambiance of a French countryside estate without leaving Ohio. Built with timeless charm, the house boasts large windows and abundant natural light, making it an ideal space for bridal preparations. Megan and her bridal party enjoyed the serene atmosphere while getting ready, surrounded by the soft glow of sunlight streaming through the windows. The rooms within the French House offered a sense of intimacy and elegance, perfectly setting the tone for the day ahead.
On this hot summer day, Megan embraced classic elegance with her satin wedding dress and cathedral veil that trailed gracefully behind her. Her gown shimmered in the sunlight, and the long veil added a sense of drama as she moved. The bridesmaids complemented her timeless look in sleek black silk dresses, which offered a modern yet understated elegance. The contrast between Megan’s radiant white gown and the bridesmaids’ chic black dresses created a striking visual against the vibrant green backdrop of the estate. Meanwhile, Drew and his groomsmen donned black tuxedos, embodying classic sophistication that never goes out of style.
In keeping with tradition, Drew and Megan chose not to do a first look before the ceremony. Instead, they saved that heartfelt moment for the aisle. Megan did, however, share a tender first look with her father before the ceremony, a moment filled with tears, hugs, and a deep sense of love. Watching her father’s emotions overflow as he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time was unforgettable. These small, personal moments added so much depth to the day.
Outside, the house is surrounded by lush native plant gardens that create an enchanting, almost storybook-like setting. The natural landscaping extends to the hilltop ceremony space, where guests were seated to witness Drew and Megan exchange vows. The ceremony location, with its elevated position and sweeping views, provided a stunning backdrop for the heartfelt moments of the day. Just as the ceremony began, a well-timed cloud rolled in, offering a brief reprieve from the summer heat and creating a soft, diffused light that made the scene even more beautiful.
As photographers, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions to capture the beauty of this day. The bright sunshine in the afternoon was perfect for the bridal party portraits, and Megan’s radiant smile truly lit up each frame. The bridesmaids, with their sleek black dresses, and the groomsmen, looking dapper in their tuxedos, made for some timeless group shots that reflected the elegance of the day.
After the ceremony, Drew and Megan embraced the opportunity for newlywed portraits on the sprawling lawn. These moments were a mix of elegance and playfulness. We captured intimate shots under Megan’s cathedral veil, where the soft fabric framed their faces and highlighted their connection. As golden hour approached, the sunlight turned warm and dreamy, providing the perfect light for more candid and playful shots. One of our favorite sequences was Drew and Megan running across the grass, their laughter and joy shining through in every photo.
The reception took place in a permanent tented structure on the estate’s lawn, which offered a blend of elegance and practicality. The space, surrounded by vibrant green grass, felt like an extension of the garden itself. The decor was a nod to French style, featuring antique blue-and-white china dishes and delicate blue glass goblets. These thoughtful details, combined with the lush floral arrangements, gave the reception a refined yet inviting atmosphere that perfectly matched the overall theme of the day.
Guests were treated to an evening filled with heartfelt toasts and meaningful moments. The speeches from Drew and Megan’s family and friends were filled with emotion, offering glimpses into their love story and the support they have from their loved ones. One particularly touching moment was when Drew’s best man recounted a story about the early days of their relationship, drawing both laughter and tears from the crowd.
Drew and Megan opted for a private cake cutting inside the French House, allowing them to share a quiet, intimate moment before returning to their guests. The two-tiered cake was as delicious as it was stunning. This brief pause amidst the festivities was a reminder of the importance of savoring these small, meaningful moments.
As the sun set, the tent on the hilltop transformed into a glowing beacon of celebration. From below, the soft lights strung inside the tent created a magical scene, illuminating the vibrant green grass and casting a warm glow over the evening’s festivities. It was the kind of moment that makes you pause and take in the beauty of the day.
The evening ended with dancing under the tent, where guests celebrated with Drew and Megan late into the night. Seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as they danced and laughed together was a perfect way to close the day. As we prepared to leave, we couldn’t resist capturing one last shot of the tent lit up against the dark night sky—a fitting end to a day filled with love, laughter, and beauty.
