Acadia National Park Elopement

This Acadia National Park Elopement was also featured on Wandering Weddings in an article about how to elope in New England, check it out here.

When Lauren initially reached out to us about being her and Michael’s elopement photographers, the plan was for them to get married in May. However, due to the Pandemic, they had to postpone their nuptials until August. We checked every day to make sure the governor of Maine allowed tourists to enter the state, and finally in July, she opened her borders to residents outside of Maine (as long as we had a negative COVID test prior to arrival in the state).

Thankfully, we were all able to travel safely and in health to northern Maine for this wonderful day.

In the midday sun, with only their immediately family present, they exchanged vows and rings atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. This Mt. Desert Island backdrop was an expansive view of the sea, other nearby islands and sailboats.

Afterward, for portraits we spent some time exploring the different overlooks and view points; and then made our way down to the coast to explore the otter cliffs. Lauren & Michael wore their hiking boots, and we scrambled across the rocks as the waves thundered loudly with each crash against the cliffside.

After a family dinner at Paddy’s Irish Pub (the couple’s favorite sea food ever) in downtown Bar Harbor, for sunset portraits, we walked to the famous sand Bar which is exposed at low tide, and the reason for the town’s name.

Every onlooker that walked by said, “Look how beautiful they are. I wish I would have gotten married here.”

Lauren & Michael will never regret their decision to trade in a traditional wedding for this incredible experience. We’re thankful for their adventurous spirits and bringing us along to document it.
